About Gabiko IoMo
I live and work in Montreal, Canada.
Skilful in various crafts, I always practiced art in one form or another. In the last decade, I become a digital painter and built a very consistent portfolio.
My technique and style are unique -- nowhere else you can find similar works -- and have been rewarded with prizes in numerous international art competitions.
Using only basic old software (and the mouse to draw), I'm playing with volumes and lights, keeping forms in balance and hues in harmony. Everything around -- shadows, sounds, perfumes, textures -- can inspire me and joyful, vibrating patches of life fill my insomnia when it is dark outside.
I paint, by small patches, on black background (from the darkness the light was born) -- sometimes covering it completely, other times creating outbursts of tints with unexpected meanings -- where the gloss or roughness of the surfaces bring a touch of realism to the chaos of abstract.
My creations -- invariably square -- are fashioned with exuberant colours and may have a militant message or a hint of irony.
Creation is my way to be -- without it, what am I ?
